Kidless

Today I took Dylan to the campground to camp with my parents for a couple days. He will have a blast I'm sure, but it was hard to leave him there. My Mom could tell I was having a hard time so she was like you don't have to leave him if you don't want, but I knew he wanted to stay and I am looking forward to the break. Tomorrow I am going to go shopping for some new clothes. It will be nice to be able to go alone and not worry about Dylan opening the dressing room door when I'm in my underwear! LOL Tonight Alton and I are going to go out for a "quiet" dinner alone. It will be very relaxing I'm sure!

Happy Birthday to me

Yesterday was my birthday. I'm now only one year from 30. It don't feel any different. LOL I had a really nice family get together to celebrate. My Mom made a cake for me. Yellow with chocolate frosting. My favorite! I got a lot of nice gifts also. Mostly money which I plan to spend on some summer clothes and a couple cushions for our outside swing. It was a good day!

Heat on the way

I just heard the weather report and they are saying that the 90 degree weather and humidity is on it's way. I am dreading it! It has been sooooo nice this week with 80 degrees and low humidity with lots of sunshine. I guess it may last all next week. Let's hope not! Alton and I had planned on doing a lot of work outside this weekend since he has the whole weekend off, but if it's that miserably hot, we won't want to do anything we've planned.

Yesterday was my Grandma's 77th birthday. A group of our family got together and all pitched in for her to get glass block windows put in her basement windows. My Aunt had some loose glass blocks from a previous project she had done and put one in a birthday bag and gave it to her. At first she wasn't sure of what it was, but then her mouth dropped open when it registered and she was sooooo surprised! They are getting new siding put on the house, so this will go along really nice with it. She's been saying she's wanted the windows for quite a long time, because theirs are so old. We had a really nice time.

Our Weekend

We had a pretty eventful weekend. Saturday we went to a bowling benefit for a lady who needs a heart transplant. We bowled three games and had some pizza. Itw as fun. We hadn't been bowling in a long time. It was nice to do somethign different. They ended up raising around $13,000 for the lady. Sunday we worked in the yard until about 5pm and then Alton's side of the family came over to celebrate the three June birthdays in the family and Father's Day. It was nice. Then once the in-laws left we had a fire. So it was a pretty relaxing weekend!

I haven't made a post in a while, so I thought I'd just say hi! Not a whole lot has been happening here with us.

An eventful week

We've had a few cool things happen to us this week. First, Dylan finally learned how to make his Power Wheels Jeep move. Santa brought it for him this past Christmas and he had been scared when it moved. Not anymore. He takes off. Now he just needs to learn how to steer it. It's so funny....He puts his foot on the "gas pedal" and starts going, but he turns his head around to look behind him instead of in front to see where he's going. He's ran into the fence, the deck, and a tree! Secondly, my sister-in-law Laurel and nephew Alex came from South Carolina for a visit this week. Dylan had tons of fun playing with his cousin. And he loved has his Aunt Laurel's attention all the time. So we spent the day with them and Grandma Hayes. Once we came home from there I was changing Dylan's diaper and he said he wanted to pee pee on the potty. It's been a feat trying to get him to even sit on the toilet. So I said ok let's go which he usually says no, but this time he went right into the bathroom and waited for me to put him on the toilet. I don't know if it was because he knew his cousin Alex goes on the big potty or what, but he sat and tried to go. Nothing ever happened, but at least we've crossed one hurdle on the road to potty training! LOL

Another gray day

Once again today we had no sunshine. I am so tired of the cloudy, cold and rainy days we've been having. Looks like tomorrow it's going to be the same! On top of that today Dylan and I woke up with a nasty cold. Dylan seems to be feeling better now that he's had his nap, but not me. I even had a nap too. Tomorrow my Dad has to go in for an outpatient surgery on his foot. He was at the foot doctor earlier in the week to have the stitches taken out from the previous surgery and they said he has a piece of skin that is dead and needs to be removed. So it's nothing serious. I think tonight will be a pizza night for dinner since I don't feel good. I know it's not healthy, but it's fast and easy.

A Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mother's who read this blog! I had a great day for my second Mother's Day! It started off with breakfast from McDonald's...my favorite! Dylan also got me a beautiful plant. It looks exotic. It's called a Sun Star and it has bright orange blossoms on it. Very pretty. Then we went to Alton's parents for lunch and then to my parents for a little while. And now we are back home enjoying the rest of the evening....even though it's storming!

Not moving

Well, it don't look like we'll be moving to the house with three acres. The owner of the property called Alton yesterday and decided that he don't want to buy our house now. I don't understand it really. The guy is a supposed millionaire who owns many rental properties. I guess when you buy a property and it's not your primary residence you have to put so much money down and then also pay closing costs. Well, he tells Alton that it would cost him around $26,000 to buy ours so he don't want to do that. Now you can't tell me he didn't already know this. Instead he acts all interested in our house and gets our hopes up for nothing. And you'd think that $26,000 would be a drop in the bucket for a millionaire. So to me I don't think I'd want to do business with him at all anymore. So I guess it wasn't meant to be!

The Garbage Man

Dylan has developed an obsession with the "Gasha Man" A.K.A the garbage man. LOL Today was our garbage day and Dylan was right at the door watching when he came down our street this morning. Then after he is gone and out of sight Dylan has a fit that he can't see him anymore and wants to go look for him. Trying to explain that the garbage man is done with our street and will be back next week is nearly impossible when it comes to a two year old. So he yells and stomps and cries until he finally moves on to something else. I don't know what it is about it that he likes so much. Maybe it's the arm that lifts the can up or just the big truck. It's the funniest thing though. Since you can see the main road from our backyard he's always looking for the Gasha Man when he hears a loud truck go by. Other then that we've had a pretty uneventful day today.

The weekend

Our Anniversary dinner at Olive Garden was really nice! We did have to wait almost 45 minutes to get a table though, but what do you expect on a Saturday night right? The food was excellent! Also over the weekend we found out that we may be moving in the near future. It's a very long story so I'll try to stick tot he main details. Alton has done this man's plumbing for a while, and he said if you ever decide to sell your house let me know first, so he did. The man is also interested in buying our house because he has many rental properties in Pontiac. So he came to look at our house yesterday and it looks like we may be able to buy his! We still have to find out what the payments will be and if we can afford them. The place is on three acres and is in Groveland Township. Dylan would go to Clarkston schools and we wouldn't be living in Pontiac anymore!!! It would be so good. The only thing is that the house needs some major updating, but it would be so worth it to be living back in the country and away from the city! So I'll keep you posted on what happens, but keep your fingers crossed for us!!

Fifth Anniversary

Alton and I made it to our five year anniversary yesterday! Yay! Hard to believe it's been that long already. We're going to celebrate tonight by going out for a peaceful, kidless dinner, and hopefully we'll get a weekend away next weekend. I think since we like Olive Garden so much that's where we will go.

My dad had his foot stitched up this morning and he should be coming home this afternoon. He'll be so happy to get home! He's been bored out of his mind in the hospital.

The man who lives behind us has a Lilac tree in his yard, and that one tree is smelling up our backyard so nice!! I love it! Last night I sat on our swing which is right in front of the tree and just soaked up all the scent! Then once it got dark I went a cut a few bunches and put them in the house, so now the whole house smells like lilac. Alton kept calling me the lilac steeler. I'm sure the man won't even notice. He don't ever do anything with it anyhow.

Dad's surgery

Yesterday my Dad had surgery on his heel and it went really good. They wanted to get all of the infection out of his bone so that it won't keep coming back every few weeks. The doctor said it wasn't as bad as he first thought, but there was definitely an infection there. So he had to stay in the hospital today and probably tomorrow. I guess he's got to learn to use crutches. That ought to be fun. Anyway, and least he's passed that now!

Feeling better

I made my second Avon order yesterday and I am feeling much better about the whole thing now. I found out that I am only $8 away from making my $500 goal for the first three campaigns! That made my day! I'm pretty sure I can get at least an $8 order next time. Tomorrow will be the one year anniversary that my Brother-in-law Stephen was killed in Iraq. I can't believe that time has went by so fast. It seems like just yesterday we were in New York for the funeral. Also Monday marks the one year anniversary of the death of our next door neighbor. That one flew by too. I was talking to his widow today and when she told me that I was shocked!

Avon woes

Today is the last day to get the orders in for my second Avon campaign, and it sure isn't half as good as my first. I guess I thought that I would get the same amount of orders as last time, but I don't even have half. For the next campaign I really need to hang some books on some mailboxes and try to generate new customers. So yes it is mainly MY fault that I don't have many orders. My goal right now is to have at least $500 in sales in my first three campaigns, because then I get acknowledged at the next sales meeting and receive a pin for reaching that goal. I'm pretty confident that I will make that goal, but we'll see. I may come up just short. Other then that there's not a whole lot happening here.

Well, we had a really nice Easter. The Easter Bunny was very good to Dylan. We had a brunch with Alton's parents and then later on went to my grandparents house for dinner. We had an Easter egg hunt for all of the great-grandkids. We hid the chocolate foil wrapped eggs and plastic eggs that had money in them. Dylan made out with about $15.00! I had taken a bunch of change to put in. The weather could have been a little better, but at least is didn't rain and ruin the egg hunt. It was kind of funny....I kept thinking how I used to do the egg hunt at that same house and now my child is doing it! Sure did make me feel old! Other then that we've just been enjoying this awesome Springtime weather we've been having. Dylan's been riding his bike, blowing bubbles and writing on the driveway with his chalk that the Easter Bunny brought him. My tulips are in full bloom! The squirrels didn't get any of the bulbs! They look so pretty! Yesterday Dylan took his first fall of Spring. He went up the deck stairs to get his cup of juice, and I don't know if he missed a step or just lost his balance, but he fell down the steps and hit the cement face down. He had a big ol' goose egg on his forehead. Today it's nice and purple. Poor guy. I was surprised though that he didn't cry more then he did. A few seconds and it was over.

Crazy week!

I don't know if it'd Spring fever or what, but Dylan has been giving me a run for my money this week! He's learned how to open the refridgerator, so he wants to be in that non-stop. He just opens it and then stands there wondering what to get into. Then yesterday....I had been doing a crossword puzzle on our front porch over the weekend.....Well, the weather was warm so I had the door leading to the porch open....guess who finds the pen in the magazine where the crossword was. D-Y-L-A-N! I was upstairs putting towels away. When I came back down Dylan had taken off his pants and had written ALL OVER both of his legs! I couldn't believe it! I don't know if he was trying to be like Alton and have a tatoo or what. DUMB ME for leaving the pen! I never even thought about it. Live and learn right? Then when I was brushing Dyaln's teeth this morning I saw that his two year molars are starting to come up, so I'm waiting for the crabiness to start. We are going to see the Easter Bunny tomorrow, so hopefully that will go good! Wish me luck!

4-2-06

Today started out with a really nice breakfast at the Old Country Buffet near our house. We went with our friends Bill and Melissa any their daughter Reagan. Reagan is six months younger than Dylan so they get along perfectly. The breakfast went surprisingly well. Usually Dylan does terrible in a restaurant. He always want out of the high chair to run around the place. But today was totally different. I don't know if was because It was first thing in the morning or what, but he ate and behaved great! We were surprised! After that we made a trip to Toys R Us to check out the swing sets. We'll be getting Dylan one soon. We having a hard time trying to decide on a wooden or metal one. I know they don't make things anything like they used to, but growing up we had a metal one, and it lasted WITHOUT a bit of rust for like 20 years! There was nothing wrong with it when my Dad took it apart. Everybody had just outgrown it. It was great. But then they got the cool wooden ones that have like a little clubhouse type thing on them and a big slide. Of course there is a BIG price difference too! So we'll see. Got to do a little bit more thinking on it. Then we came home and Alton started a fire outside to burn some of the junk wood we have. It was a chilly day, so it felt good by the fire. Of course Dylan wouldn't come anywhere near it to warm up. All he wanted to do is ride his bike. If the sun had of been out it would have been a perfect day weather wise. I had Alton get our Easter decorations down for the attic in the garage so I decorated a tree in our yard with the little bright plastic eggs and our front porch railing. They look so cute. I had forgotten all the cute Easter stuff I had, because it hasn't been out in like three years. I just haven't decorated. So we had a really nice Sunday!

Working woman again

As of today I now have a job again! I am an Avon Representative! So let me know if you need any of our product!! My Aunt has been the Avon seller for the longest time and decided she didn't want to do it anymore, so I am taking over. I am realizing though that I really need to get out and get some clients if I want to be able to MAKE any amount of money. Right now I have my family and friends, but I can't depend on them all of the time. I have my first sales meeting this Wednesday, so that should be fun.

3-25-06

Last night we went to the movies and saw Failure to Launch with Matthew McCaunahey and Sarah Jessica Parker. It was a very cute movie. We went with another couple and of course both men thought it was a "chick flick". I suppose it was, but as much as they would hate to admit it.....they liked it as much as me and my friend. I definitely reccomend it. After the movie we had dinner. It was really nice!
