For the past threes days and well into the night we have been working hard on our basement putting a third bedroom in. We wanted to get in by today because we had our house appraised today. I went downstairs with the lady and I asked her about the room being a third bedroom. She says it don't count as a third bedroom. My heart bounced clear down to my feet I think. I said it don't? She says no, but they give credit for it as a finished part of the basment. What a bummer! She said even places that have a kitchen and bar kind of area in a basment don't count as a second kitchen. That's crazy I think!
My Dad is home from the hospital. He came home Sunday. He was getting so tired of staring at the four walls of the hospital room! So he's doing good!

My Dad wound up in the hospital again on Monday. He just wasn't acting right when I was there on Monday. To make a long story short it ends up that he has an infection caused from his open sore on his heel that he got when he was bed ridden for so long. It still hasn't healed all the way. Today they were mentioning that he may go home, but it wasn't for sure. He says he's ready! LOL Other then that there really hasn't been a whole lot going on.

Diaper Dilemma
It started on Sunday during Dylan's nap. He learned how to take off his diaper. When I went to get him from his nap he had his socks, pants and diaper off, and had peed all over his bed. I thought great. Well, on Tuesday morning he did it again while I was putting some clothes in the washer downstairs. I'm not sure if he just likes being naked or what. LOL Well, the third time it happened was Tuesday afternoon, only this time it was much worse. I was upstairs putting clothes away and I could smell that he had pooped all the way upstairs. As I was heading downstairs I was thinking oh no!! Well, I was right. He had taken his poopy diaper off. He had it all over his clothes, under his finger nails, on his face. It was so sick!!! So needless to say I had to give him a bath before I could put him down for his afternoon nap. I friend of mine says that it's a sign to start potty training when they do that, but I'm not so sure. I try to put Dylan on the potty and he's terrified. So any advice you have will be nice!

2-6-06
Well, Friday night went pretty good even though it was Superbowl weekend! My friend Melissa had made us a reservation at an Italian place in Detroit called Roma Cafe. The food was awesome. When she had talked to them on the phone Thursday they told her that they would shuttle us to and from the concert also! BUT when we got there and talked to the driver of the shuttle he said he wasn't working that late and that he could only drive us TO the concert and we'd be on our own on the way back. He had told us that there would be TONS of cabs on this one side of Joe Louis Arena. So we said OK, that will work. Well, the concert was really good. Kid Rock went non-stop for almost three hours! The only time he stopped was to get a drink and wipe himself off. Then he was back at it again. So it was good! During the concert though, there were four guys behind us and one was so drunk that he lost hi balance and fell head first into Alton's seat. Of course we were standing, but he still about knocked Alton into the row in front of us! He was begging Alton not to hit him! LOL So we and his buddies helped get him back into his row. Then we all started cracking up! It was funny. So the concert gets done and we are trying to get outside. It was like a herd of cattle. I thought for sure there was going to be a stampede. I don't know if everyone was trying to get out the same door or what, but it was crazy. Finally we get out. And we start looking for the "tons of cabs" that the driver had told us about. There was not even one cab in sight!!! Ya, there were tons of limos and busses to pick people up that had previously arranged it, but not one cab. So we just start following the crowd. There were a bunch of people looking for a cab. We come to the end of the road we were walking on so we asked a police officer where we might find a cab. He directs us up a sort of side street to another road. I was getting a little freaked out. Wondering around Detroit at midnight is not good. So we walk and walk....No cabs anywhere. Then we come to a casino that our friends are familiar with. They said let's go there and they will get us a cab. So we head that way, and almost when we're there here comes a cab. Thank God he stopped and he took us back to get our car! The ride into he cab was interesting too. I thought the side of the car where I was sitting was going to fall off! LOL It was making some pretty weird sounds. Almost like the tire was going to fall off. So we made it to get the car and then made it home in one piece! I felt bad for my parents who were babysitting. We didn't get home until like 1:30 am and then they had to get up early to take my brother to work. I never dreamed we'd be out so late! I don't think we'll go to another concert at Joe Louis!

The Big Concert
Yes, we are crazy!!! We are going to go to Detroit tomorrow night to see Kidd Rock at Joe Louis Arena. I'm beginning to wonder if we are sane. Superbowl weekend and we are going to go to Detroit. LOL My friend got the tickets a month ago. Little did we know it was Superbowl weekend! HOPEFULLY everything will go smoothly. We do know that they have reserved three big parking lots just for the concert, so parking shouldn't be an issue. Then we have to get on a shuttle to take us to the Joe. Yes, it ought to be interesting! Wish us luck!

Weekend news
The news from the weekend is that there really isn't any. LOL I did have a girls night out on Friday, so that was nice. We went to a restaurant that had just been remodeled so we went to see the updates. It sure looks different. For those who live by me I'm talking about the old Orion House on M-24. It's now called Christi's Bar and Grill. The food was excellent! They have a much bigger menu now....Much more variety. They do still have their famous pizzas and bread sticks. We pretty much went there too just for the bread sticks. Then they come with a really good garlic dip! YUM!!! I want some now! Nothing really went on Saturday. Alton had to work. Sunday we went to Best Buy so that Alton could spend a couple gift certificates they he'd gotten for Christmas and his birthday. He got a Rolling Stones CD and a Dr. Dre CD. Yes, he listens to a WIDE variety of music. LOL I know those are one extreme to the next right? LOL
Today Dylan has discovered flushing toilet paper in the toilet. Before he would just flush the toilet and slam the lid down. Today while I was reading my email he decided to go in there and unload half of a role of TP and put it in the toilet. Then when he saw me coming he hurried up and flushed it! I thought for sure the thing would be plugged, but it all went down. Alton would have had a fit! LOL The last thing he wants to do when he gets home is more plumbing! But I guess some things just can't be helped right?

Ebay
Have you ever tried to win an auction on Ebay before? I have been trying to buy an item for two weeks now and keep getting outbid at the last minute! It is so frustrating!! Sometimes I wonder if the thing is rigged! LOL

Our Weekend
We had a really nice weekend. Saturday night Alton and I got away for a few hours. My Mom babysat for us and we went to Greektown in Detroit for dinner. We went to a place called The Parthenon. Greek of course. It was a neat place, but I don't think I would go back. They server an appetizer that is goat cheese and they light it on fire when they bring it to your table. I don't know how the waitstaff hold on to it while they light it! We were like five tables away from when they lit one and we could feel the heat from it! How do they have it right in their hand? LOL I ordered a Gyro sandwich, but I was so worried about telling the waiter no tomato that I forgot to tell him I wanted chicken instead of the traditional lamb. So I got lamb. First time I've ever ate that. It was ok as long as I didn't think about what I was eating. LOL After we ate we went across the street to the casino. I didn't gamble at all, but Alton played a couple slot machines. She won $18 on one and then cashed out. Big spenders huh? LOL
Sunday we had a nice day of going to the grocery store and then just hanging out at home doing pretty much nothing. We haven't had one of those days in forever! It was nice.

The weather
I have never seen so much rain during the Winter as I have this 05-06 year. It's been close to 50 degrees for the past two days too! You would think it was maybe late March early April here! We have no snow what so ever except maybe a pile here or there from the plows. It's been yucky and muddy for so long now. I almost would rather see the snow covering the ground! What is going on? LOL

2 years old!
Yesterday Dylan officially turned 2 years old! Where does the time go? He growing up sooooooo quick! Since we already had his birthday party we took him to McDonald's for a M & M McFlurry. We brought it home and put a candle in it and let him blow it out. He was very happy!

A good weekend
We celebrated Dylan's birthday this weekend. I had the family over for cake and ice cream on Saturday. His real day is Wednesday though. It was nice. I'm thinking maybe Chucky Cheese for next year. LOL I don't know though...We'll have to see if he ever gets on the mechanical pony at Meijer's first. I've tried to put him on it periodically and he is terrified of it. Then Sunday we got some stuff done around the house. I got a really nice wooden filing cabinet for Christmas, so I transferred all of the stuff from my rickety metal one. Got to burn quite a bit of old stuff..Like old tax documents, check stubs. That stuff sure does pile up quick. Then we got Dylan's new toy box in the house. It's been sitting in the garage since Christmas. It's so much better then his old one. This one has a lid so you can't see the mess anymore. Plus we got a few other repairs done to the house that have needed to be done for a while, but have been put on the back burner. Other then that it was pretty relaxing!

Crazy week
This first week of January has turned out to be a bad start to the new year! I have two Aunts in the hospital, my Dad hasn't been feeling so good, and yesterday my brother was on his way home from work and he was hit by a drunk driver and totaled his truck! What else is going to happen to this family this week? Thank goodness my brother made it without a scratch. It's just a bummer about his truck! I just hope that they will pay it off for him and he can find soemthing lese that he can afford!

Happy New Year all!
Can you believe that it's January 2006 already? I can't. In just ten days Dylan will be two whole years old! Hard to believe! Our New Year's Eve was pretty tame. We went to some friends of ours. Decided to spend the night so that we weren't putting Dylan and us in danger by driving home at 1am with all the drunks on the road. Needless to say we didn't get to bed until almost 2 am to begin with and then Dylan woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep. He did not want to sleep in a pack and play I guess. I kept laying him back down and winding up his musical bear, but it didn't work. And OF COURSE Alton is sleeping like a baby through all of this! So finally I woke him up and told him lets go home, but he didn't want to do that. So Alton put Dylan in bed with us. He fussed around and wanted to play. About daybreak he finally decided to fall asleep. So we did get a couple hours if Z's in. What a mess. Never again! So we got up and came home just long enough to unload the car and then we were off again. We went to Alton's parents house for lunch to celebrate Alton's Dad's birthday. Came home after that and tried to get Dylan to take a nap. You would think after being up most of the night he would be dead tired. NOT! He wailed for about a half hour until I gave in and got him up. I am praying he don't do that when we put him down for the night. We had a little burst of energy so we took down the Christmas tree. I'm glad that's done. Tomorrow I will get the rest of the decorations down. I still have lights in the windows and a few other things. Shouldn't take too long. Then the house will be back to normal. I can't wait.

Here and gone
Another Christmas here and gone in what seems like only minutes! It takes so long to get ready for this big day, but it goes by so fast! We had a really nice Christmas as usual. Santa was VERY good to all of us! Dylan especially! It looks like Toys R Us moved into our living room he got so many new toys. His favorite seems to be his big Power Wheels Jeep. It even has a real working radio in it! He also likes the new puzzles and other trucks that he got too. I really need to go through his toybox now and get rid of some of the things that he really don't play with anymore. I know you're supposed to do it ahead of Christmas, but I never thought to do it. Alton's boss gave him Christmas Eve off, so that was nice. He was wishing he had the day after Christmas off, but I guess we can't have everything. It sure was a busy few days.

29 for Alton
Today is Alton's birthday! He is 29! Hard to believe we are getting so close to 30! We'll be having cake and ice cream for him tonight after he gets home from work. Hopefully they will let him get out at a decent time!

Almost done shopping
Yesterday I got the majority of our Christmas shopping done in two stops. I was happy! Now I have to come up with an idea for my Grandparents who always say they don't need anything, and Alton. Usually Alton is so easy, but I'm having hard time this year. He says not to get him anything too! But you know I have to get SOMETHING! The rest of the people on my list will be getting money. Since they won't tell me anything to get they can get it for themselves. Sunday Alton and I are planning on going for Dylan. Last year I did most of the Santa Claus shopping, but Alton wants to be a part of it this year. I'm glad. Dylan sure don't NEED a whole lot, but we'll see what happens. Alton wants to get him one of the ride on Power Wheels. I'm hoping we can find a Bigfoot one. That's what I always wanted when I was younger. My brother and I were both promised one form one of my Uncles, but we never got it. Christmas sure is coming fast! Now I gotta get wrapping!

Looks like Christmas
Today we went and got our Christmas tree. WE were supposed to go to my Aunt and Uncles house to cut s fresh one, but we were never able to get a hold of them, so we ended up going to Home Depot like we did last year and got one. It's really pretty! It actually looks Christmasy in our house now. Today I finished putting up some lights in the windows. I'm done except for putting tinsel on our tree. I also went to the grocery store today. I didn't go Friday because Alton had me paranoid about getting myself stuck in the the new snow, and I wasn't about to go on a Saturday again!! So I went today and it was great! I think I might go on Monday's form now on. It wasn't crowded our busy at all! I did a little Christmas shopping online today too. So two more people down about 20 to go! LOL I'm on a role now!

Snow, Snow and more Snow
Last night about 8pm it started to snow. It was really coming down by 11pm when we went to bed. We were warned that we'd get between 4 and 8 inches. I think we ended up right in between with about 5 inches. Not too bad. The weather people made it sound much worse then what it actually was. My Mom was happy, because they closed the schools and she didn't have to go to work. SNOW DAY! LOL I found out this morning that Dylan remembers how to get out of his bed. Yesterday for nap time I had no problem with him staying in his bed. I had thought that the only reason he got out the first time was that he had stood on his bumper pads that were still in the crib and that gave him the height that he needed to get his leg up to get out. I took the bumper pads out and he was still able to get out this morning on his own. So now, do I convert the bed to his toddler bed, or leave it how it is? Advice anybody? I'm afraid that if I convert it to the toddler bed than he'll never stay in.

What a day!
The day started out as normal, but by lunchtime I was ready to pull my hair out! Between Dylan getting into EVERYTHING that he knows he's not supposed to and the dumb dog whining and crying and getting underfoot, I thought I was going to go insane! I guess the "terrible two's are upon us, because Dylan's behavior has been terrible lately. He gets into the stuff that he's not supposed to just to get under my skin I think. When I ask him to stop doing something he just does it more or harder then he previously was. OOOOOOOHHHHHH! I hate not being listened to! That is the worse thing! So FINALLY nap time rolled around. I was soooo looking forward to that. Well, I put Dylan down about 2:30. Three o'clock got here and he's up there crying. I knew he hadn't been to sleep yet, so I lay him back down and covered him back up. It was really quiet for about an hour so I thought he went to sleep. Well, all of a sudden I hear this loud thud upstairs. So I went in the kitchen and turned on the monitor. I could here some rustling around, so I didn't think anything of it. I just thought he was playing in his crib. Sometimes he gets his Ocean Wonders aquarium off the side of the crib, which I thought was the thud. During all of this I had been on the phone with my friend. So I continued talking to her and I had my back facing the entrance to our kitchen. All of a sudden I hear HI! Dylan had gotten out of his crib all by himself!!! I couldn't believe it. So now I'm wondering if the nightmare is beginning of him not staying in his bed when he's supposed to. I sure hope it was just a one time thing at least for a while. I thought we at least had one more year until he started this! Oh my goodness! HELP!!!

I hate grocery shopping!!
Is there anybody who enjoys going to the grocery store? If there is I really wish you could tech me to enjoy it more! LOL I usually go on Friday every week. Well, I made the mistake of going on a Saturday. NEVER AGAIN! At least until after Christmas. It was such a ZOO!! I shop at Meijer. Love to go there because I can get everything in one shot. Well of course today I really needed to return our cans and bottles. I get to the bottle return area and there is only ONE can machine working out of like 7. And of course there is nobody around to get help to get more going. So once that was done I start my shopping. I always start at the front where the deli and produce are. Well, Alton is picky about his lunchmeat so I MUST get it from the deli. Well, guess what, there's a long line there too! I almost said forget it and went to get Oscar Meyer, but I knew he would be complaining so I waited. So on I went dodging people and finally get to the check out. Can you believe that I walked right up to the register without waiting in line for a second. THAT was amazing! The best part of the whole shopping experience! Then I had to put everything away....I hate that too! LOL
